I guess there's more people out there interested in the mail list then we thought. Although we'd like to see sites like CNN, MSNBC, etc pick up up, we were picked up at this datacenterknowledge.com. Here's the story they did on the outage and the site.

There are some reporters out there that we don't mind working with and Joanna Stern is one of them, She did a interview with me back on 12/07 and then this morning she contacted me again about the Blackberry Outage that RIM had again yesterday. You can read that interview here.

We have added a new section where people can submit issues they are having now with their service. It's called The RIM Outage Tracker. Just fill out the form and hit submit, this will help people determine what area's are having the most issues. The latest entry is deleted from the database after 24hr's but at least people can see what else is going on besides subscribing to the mail list. This is NOT a tool to replace the BB-Outage mail list, just something to help people determine if there's something local or more spread out.

As of today, we have decided to remove the UMA-Outage list due to lack of usage from the people. The list was more of a test run then anything to see if there would be a interest in it and after a couple months, we've decided their wasn't. If we people would like to see another list setup, contact us at the feedbackpage and let us know. We have also setup a new list called BB-Help. This list was created to help new people to Blackberry's. With the increase in regular consumers purchasing them for everyday usage, this list can be used for members to help each other learn and trade tips and tricks. We will not allow any Illegal software such as early beta versions of Blackberry OS's to be posted and if any are done, the post will be removed and the user will be banned and reported.

It's the start of a new year as well as a new project that started off last year during the Major Outage of 2007.Only this time we've moved to a new domain and have quite a few people involved in running the list now and keeping the noise level down. Some people have asked me why we chose the name Dataoutages.com. Well to be blunt, it allows us to not only focus on Blackberry's but also on municipal wireless communities that would like to keep up to date on outages they may be having in their area's. We haven't started any lists dedicated to those types yet because we haven't had any requests for them yet to be honest.

Right now we're just focusing on getting the site name out there and getting people on the lists that we do have running and keeping them active. Once we feel that we have a good user base then we can start expanding. This is something that can only get better as people always are in need of information and with the amount of people that are addicted to information 24/7, knowing when something is down, what area's are down, and a ETA as to when they will be back up should please many people. I'm sure certain help desk people will be glad to see these types of lists.

First we'd like to thank everyone for the support that we've received over the last couple weeks on this site. I never would've been able to do it without hdawg, JSanders, NJBlackBerry, John Clark and a few other's that I'm sure I've missed and apologize for.

Over the next couple weeks, we hope to have more information available on the site so people can get the outage information not only from the mail lists but also from the new sections that will be added, One section that's been added but not linked to so far is a section where people can upload files to, whether it be wallpapers, BES related files, ring tones, etc. Then our staff will add them to the correct directories. This isn't something we're sure we're going to keep up as it's a trial to see if it'll get enough use for us to keep up and running.

In the meantime, we'd like to hear some feedbackon what people would like to see on the site and lists.
