[Bb-chat] Content protection and 3rd party applications

We use a policy that only sets the password as required and the content protection as option not required.

Enterprise has decided to send out a security policy to all blackberry users that makes password mandatory. I'm fine with that but it also makes content protection mandatory. Rim says if you send out security policy cannot uncouple password and content protectionm is this true?

This cripples 3rd party alerting(email from etc) software which I depend on. When device security times out software stops working. I've seen this before. On os 4.1.x. And 8700. Does content protection affect on third party apps disappear in os 4.2.X? Any suggestions how to deal with content compression except to plead to have pwd made optional?
